Dual Fuel Technology: DuroMax XP4850EH is a dual fuel hybrid generator. It operates on both gasoline and propane. This freedom of fuel selection makes it convenient for the users to select any fuel according to its availability.

Construction: Its all-metal construction makes it a tough and durable unit.

Portability: This open frame conventional generator is 17 inches wide, 17 inches in height, and 24 inches in length. It is a big size generator weighing 127 pounds. But thanks to its wheel kit that makes it easy to move around.

Engine and Output Power: DuroMax XP4850EH can produce 4850 peak watts and 3850 rated watts on gasoline but 4608 peak watts and 3658 rated watts on propane. It is equipped with a 208cc 4-stroke air-cooled engine with a cast iron sleeve for protection.

What it Powers: It can easily handle both small and large appliances and high amperage power tools. But never try to plug your sensitive electronic devices as its THD (Total Harmonic Distortion) rating is quite higher (<12%).

MX2 Technology: Its MX2 technology allows you to operate your unit either at 120 Volts or both 120 and 240 Volts concurrently. The best thing about this feature is that you will get maximum power from each of the 120 Volt receptacles.

Runtime: The XP4850EH has a gas storage tank of 3.96 gallons. A full gas tank allows the generator to run up to 10 hours at half load. Or if you are going to use propane, then it is suggested to go for a 20 pounds propane tank that will give about 9 hours of runtime.

Its gasoline consumption is around 0.4 gallons per hour, and propane consumption is 0.52 gallons per hour.

Starting Method: You can start this generator manually, or if it is hard for you, you are blessed with an electric start system. The battery is included for an electric start that charges itself when the generator is in operation.

Volume Level: Its operational sound is 69 dBA.

Power Receptacles: The control panel has four power receptacles. Two are the 120 Volt 20 Ampere (5-20R) GFCI-protected outlets, one is the 120/240 Volt (L14-30R) outlet, and one is the 12 Volt DC outlet.

The presence of an L14-30R receptacle allows you to connect your generator to the breaker box of your house. It will help you to get uninterrupted power.

Voltmeter: Its control panel also has a voltmeter that shows the operating voltage of your generator.

Low-oil Indicator: The low-oil indicator turns on only when your generator is running out of oil.

Safety: Surge-arrest technology, automatic low-oil shutdown, and overload protection are for the safety of your generator.

Surge-arrest protects your unit from power surges. Low-oil shutdown turns off the generator when the oil level is quite low. And overload protection safeguards your generator from overheating.

Warranty: DuroMax XP4850EH is backed by a 3-year limited residential warranty and a 1-year commercial warranty.

Emissions: It strictly follows the guidelines set by both the EPA (Environmental Protection Agency) and CARB (California Air Resources Board) to protect the environment.

In which manner propane is better than gasoline?

Many people prefer to buy gasoline-powered generators because gasoline is easily accessible, and it works great even in extremely cold temperatures. But in the case of dual-fuel generators, you can prefer using propane because of these factors.

  • Propane is more efficient than gasoline.
  • Propane is cheaper as compared to gasoline.
  • Premium quality galvanized propane tanks can last up to 30 years, but gasoline can only be stored for a few months.

How can I charge my generator’s battery?

DuroMax XP4850EH has an internal charging system that charges the battery while the generator is running. Or you can connect the battery to a trickle charger.

Can I convert this generator from liquid propane to natural gas?

DuroMax XP4850EH only runs on gasoline or propane. You cannot convert it from liquid propane to natural gas.
