Features:

Generator Type: Champion 100165 is a dual fuel conventional generator featuring an open frame design. It is ideal to use at home during outages because it is transfer switch ready. Also, you can buy this generator for your RV, food truck, or construction site.

Fuel Option: It is compatible with gasoline and propane, so you can select any fuel option to operate your generator. A patented fuel selector switch is available to safely switch between propane and gas and vice versa.

Weight and Size: Manual lifting of this generator is not easy because it is neither lightweight nor compact. Its weight is 202.4 pounds, but it comes with a folding handle and two 9.5” no-flat wheels for easy transportation and storage.

Champion 100165 is also a big-sized generator. It is 27.8 inches in length, 26.4 inches in height, and 28.7 inches wide.

Emissions: There is no state in the US where you can’t ship and use this generator. It is verified by both CARB (California Air Resources Board) and EPA (Environmental Protection Agency).

Start System: It has both recoil and electric start options. You can start your generator via any method as per convenience.

Cold Start Technology: Generators always create starting problems in winters. But thanks to its cold start technology that makes it easy to start a cold engine.

Engine: Champion 100165 includes a powerful and reliable 439cc, 4-stroke, single-cylinder engine. It has an air-cooled cooling mechanism and a cast iron sleeve for protection.

Power Capacity: Gasoline gives higher output power as compared to propane. On gas, its engine produces 9375 watts of maximum power and 7500 watts of running power. On propane, it can only deliver 8400 starting watts of 6750 running watts.

Engine Oil Capacity: The engine oil capacity of Champion 100165 is 1.2 quarts.

What it can Power: It gives excellent output power on both propane and gas. So, you can easily run both of your small and big devices simultaneously. But before going to connect any appliance or tool, check its wattage power requirement.

Tank Size: Champion 100165 owns a 6-gallon gasoline tank constructed with steel. There is no fuel gauge, so you need to open the tank cap to check its fuel level every time.

Runtime: A filled gasoline tank can give an 8-hour runtime at half load. On the other hand, a 20-pound propane tank can give up to 5.5 hours of runtime at half load.

Fuel Consumption: The engine uses more propane per hour than gas. Its gasoline consumption is around 0.75 gallons per hour, and its propane usage is around 0.85 gallons per hour.

Noise: It operates at a decibel rating of 74 dBA.

Power Outlets: Champion 100165 comes with four GFCI protected 120 Volt 20 Ampere (5-20R) outlets, one 120 Volt 30 Ampere (L5-30R) outlet, and one 120/240 Volt 30 Ampere (L14-30R) outlet.

GFCI outlets turn off the power supply when they detect any unusual activity between the outgoing and incoming current. They provide immediate protection against electrical shocks.

The L5-30R receptacle helps you in making a simple RV connection. And the L14-30R receptacle allows you to connect your generator to a manual transfer switch of your house.

Intelligauge: Intelligauge is a digital display meter that tells the complete runtime, voltage, and generator frequency.

Safety Features: Volt Guard and automatic voltage regulation along with low oil shutoff and spark arrestor.

Volt Guard (surge protector) prevents overloading to keep your generator and appliances safe.

The automatic voltage regulation system is responsible for providing constant voltage despite varying loads.

The spark arrestor doesn’t allow sparks to leave the generator engine. This safety feature is for the protection of the environment as well as the generator.

Low oil shutoff doesn’t allow the engine to run on low oil and protect it from damage.

Warranty: Your product is backed up by a 3-year limited warranty and lifetime technical support (free).

What is included in the Box: The box of Champion 100165 includes an owner’s manual, an oil funnel, a wheel kit, and a battery, along with a propane hose and engine oil.

FAQs

What is the difference between peak and rated watts?

Peak (starting) wattage is the temporary boost of power a generator can supply to start motor-driven appliances. On the other hand, rated (running) wattage is the continuous power a generator can supply.

The starting power only lasts for seconds to start the motor of your appliance. When the motor starts and increases its speed, the current requirement decreases. At full speed, the motor only needs constant power, which is the generator’s rated power.

What items can you power simultaneously at home via Champion 100165?

You can power a number of things via Champion 100165. It can easily handle both 120 Volt and 240 Volt loads.

Here, we are giving you examples of items that you can power simultaneously.

  • Dishwasher
  • Refrigerator
  • 1000-watt microwave
  • 10,000 BTU air conditioner
  • ½ HP Sump pump
  • Satellite receiver

What will happen if you put an extra load on your generator?

Overloading is dangerous, not only for your generator but also for your connected items.

It causes overheating of the engine that is not safe for your appliances and tools.

Therefore, never try to put an additional load on your generator. Always check the starting and running watts before connecting any appliance.
